Beautiful Rain is a cantata in five movements for SATB, piano and tenor. The text is based on English-language interviews with refugees from Darfur, Sudan. Although the complete work is very challenging, the first movement is appropriate for and has been performed by high school choirs.
Every choir that performs this work, will help tell the story of survivors of the genocide in Darfur. In addition, all choirs and directors that perform the work will be added to the back inside cover of the score.
Please get in touch with me if you or your choir is interested in performing Beautiful Rain.
YIDDISH OPERA
With help from Rachel Surden, Zalemn Mlotek and a whole lot of phone calls, I've discovered 48 Yiddish Operas in Los Angeles that were thought to be lost. We're starting an opera production company to bring these works back to life.
In related news, I will be returning to Salzburg, Austria this summer to conduct Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.
GIVE TO LIVE
Director and Executive Producer, Justin de Leon is creating the documentary, Give to Live. The film will explore the impact of charitable giving to African causes. It will also feature my cantata, Beautiful Rain and the process of bringing it to life for its first performance.
